Lying Waiting

Saline slowly travelling through the needle, this with the morphine makes the pain subside if only for a while.

The previous night at the forefront of your mind. How an innocent evening can turn into a disaster. How you wish you were dead as the uniformed tell you she’s gone.  You knew this could happen as you sat behind the wheel.

At this point you wake, relief rushes through your body.

You go to move but can’t, Pain, you look up, a white room, you lie waiting.

Saline slowly travelling through the needle, this with the morphine makes the pain subside if only for a while.
